He is the Founder and CEO of the leading Coffee Bean Supplier in Sydney, Australia – The Grounds. A day in Ramzey’s life included taking responsibility for activities like Cafe Design, Negotiation, Budgeting, Customer Service, Sales, and Retail of the company. He is a skilful and experienced entrepreneur in the hospitality industry and has made his brand the most popular choice of many coffee lovers across the country.
Success doesn’t come overnight
Before starting with The Grounds, Ramzey has had more than ten hospitality businesses, including a variety of multiple takeaway shops and cafes, an Oporto's franchise, a bar and two restaurants. Along with all this, he used to work in his father’s foodservice business, doing activities like supplying bars and restaurants with dry and frozen merchandises. His powerful management skill allowed him to establish an imports brand for gourmet Italian produce and also owned another company of Raw Ingredients supplying products such as nuts. Ramzey always used to look up to his father for any advice, who was an entrepreneur who loved building businesses.
Conquering the hard times
There was a hard time in his life when his family lost everything in the GFC. His father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. He was extremely inspired by his father’s work ethic because he was a remarkable businessman and successful entrepreneur. However, the hard times didn’t break Ramzey’s motivation and pushed him further to pursue his passion, and soon, he came up with a successful business idea. Ramzey doesn’t have big entrepreneurial degrees like other businessmen, but his reading habit gave him enough vision to become a successful entrepreneur. The Grounds was established in honour of his father’s memory, and to recreate the feelings and experiences he was fortunate enough to experience growing up under his guidance.
At the time when he conceptualized The Grounds of Alexandria, he had no capital, to begin with. It was with the financial support of a few close friends and relatives who believed in his insight that he was able to fund the concept. He always looked to successful entrepreneurs in the industry or professionals who are experts in the field he had hit an issue in. Whatever the issue you’re facing, it’s important to recall that someone has experienced it before you. They’re building and making sure that what their creation is adding value to the world and their customer’s lives.
